TERRA-MICHI
Data Use Consent for AI Training and Quality Improvement
Effective date: [October 20, 2026]
TERRA-MICHI requests consent under the following conditions from users willing to contribute to AI training and evaluation, to help interpret land characteristics and support planning for roads, land grading and land use, including environmental considerations.
This consent is optional. Refusing consent or withdrawing it later will not, on that basis, restrict access to the beta version’s basic features.
1. Purposes of use
Data covered by your consent will be used for the following purposes relating to the provision and improvement of TERRA-MICHI:
• Generating and evaluating reference plans based on terrain and planning parameters
• Improving the accuracy of suggestions for roads, land grading and earthwork balance
• Improving comparisons and suggestions that consider impacts on forests and ecosystems
• Correcting errors and inappropriate suggestions using users’ modifications, acceptance or rejection decisions and evaluations
• Creating training and evaluation datasets, and training and validating AI models, for these purposes
These purposes include improving TERRA-MICHI features that may be offered for a fee in the future.
2. Data covered
The data covered is the following information saved or sent to the Service after consent and before withdrawal, excluding the information specified in Section 3:
• Terrain, elevation, target areas, road alignments and grading areas
• Design elevations, widths, gradients, side slopes and other planning parameters
• Analysis results such as cut-and-fill volumes and earthwork balance
• Modifications to suggestions, acceptance or rejection decisions, comparison results and evaluations
• Users’ reasons for decisions, improvement suggestions and other feedback
Data saved or sent before consent will not be added to the training data solely on the basis of this consent.
3. Information excluded from training
The following information will not be included in training:
• Names, email addresses, phone numbers, authentication information and similar information
• Third-party personal information, or information for which publication or secondary use is not authorized
• Information whose use is restricted by contracts with clients, business partners or public authorities
• Non-public tender information, contractual terms and other confidential information
• Maps, images, drawings and similar materials whose licenses do not permit AI training
Before using data for training, we remove or replace identifying information, reduce the precision of location information or take other steps as necessary. Data will be excluded if the risk of identifying individuals, companies, land or non-public projects cannot be sufficiently reduced.
We do not assume that removing names alone makes all data anonymous.
4. User authority
Please consent only to the extent that you are authorized to permit use of the supplied data as described in this document.
Data in which employers, clients, public authorities, joint-venture partners or others hold rights may be included only with the necessary approvals. Your consent does not waive third-party rights or confidentiality obligations.
Do not provide data for training if your authority to provide it is unclear.
5. Scope of use and external disclosure
We may reproduce, process and analyze the covered data, and use it for AI training and evaluation, on a non-exclusive, royalty-free basis to the extent necessary for the purposes of this consent. Rights in input data remain with the user or other legitimate rights holders.
Processing by service providers under our management and supervision is also limited to the purposes and conditions of this consent.
This consent does not authorize external AI providers to independently train their own general-purpose AI models. It also does not authorize selling source data or individual project data to third parties, public disclosure, or publication as case studies.
Before providing project data to universities or research institutions, or using it beyond the original purposes, we will provide the necessary separate explanations and obtain consent as required.
Processing by overseas service providers is subject to the cross-border handling conditions in the Privacy Policy.
6. Use of outcomes
The outcomes of training and evaluation under this consent may be used as TERRA-MICHI features in services provided to other users.
We evaluate outputs and implement necessary safeguards to avoid presenting submitted confidential information or individual project details directly to other users.
Unless separately agreed, no compensation for providing data or share of revenue from the improved Service will be paid. This does not transfer the rights of users or third parties in input data.
7. Withdrawal of consent and deletion
Users may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us from their registered email address. No explanation is required.
After verifying identity, we will promptly stop new training use and exclude training and evaluation data managed in association with the user from further use. We will explain the scope and timing of deletion.
It may be technically difficult to completely remove only the influence of specific data from a model that has already been trained. This does not exempt us from legal obligations concerning deletion or cessation of use. Where necessary, we will consider output restrictions, model modification or retraining, or discontinuation of use.
We may continue to use statistical results after withdrawal if they cannot identify individuals or projects and their connection to the original information cannot be reconstructed.
We will also stop new training use upon receiving a request to close an account.
8. Consent records and changes
We record whether consent was given, the version of the document agreed to, and the dates and times of consent and withdrawal.
If the purposes, data covered or scope of external disclosure are materially expanded, we will explain the changes and obtain renewed consent. No response or an unchecked box will not be treated as consent.
